5 Seasonal Foods To Feed Your Baby This Summer

Summer produce isn’t just for show, they’ve got lots of nutritional and developments for your babe, too.

There are so many things we love about summer but our favorite has to be the food…duh, it’s always about the food here. Is there anything better than a buttery ear of corn or a warm slice of blueberry pie (BRB we’re hungry)? While our littles can’t exactly enjoy all these summer treats, they can still get in on the fun with these seasonal eats. Summer produce isn’t just for show, they’ve got lots of nutritional and developments for your babe, too.

Nothing screams summer quite like biting into a fresh, run-down-your hand juicy peach. This fuzzy fruit is a great source of vitamin C and vitamin A, both of which can help keep your mini’s immune system in tip top shape. Peaches are also super fibrous which will help your little eater keep things moving through their digestive system. While you’re digging into that fresh peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream (drooling!), give your babe a bite of Little Spoon’s Limited Edition Peach Cobbler blend.

In our book, the season of sunshine is all about the berries. Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries—you name it, we’re eating it. These summer fruits are full of vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants, and flavonoids making them ideal for boosting immunity, and eye, brain, and urinary tract development. Whether you’re serving up Little Spoon’s Quinoa Raspberry Pear Coconut Milk Vanilla Date Wheat Germ Oil (our personal fave) or Sweet Potato Apple Blueberry Flax, your baby’s nutritional and developmental needs are covered.

We’re all about eating the rainbow and our favorite snackable veg checks the orange box. Carrots are brimming with beta-carotene to help aid eyesight and promote a strong immune system for your babe. Let them dig into Little Spoon’s Carrot Mango Coconut Milk Turmeric blend or mix it into Carrot Mango Popsicles for the whole family to enjoy.

Zucchini are always on our summer grilling rotation and we want our little ones to get in on the tasty, nutritious fun. Zucchini is an ideal single-ingredient blend for first time eaters—many babies experience constipation with the introduction of solids, so the fiber in this squash is a great way to keep things moving.

We can’t let fruits and veggies have all the summertime fun! The basil and rosemary you’re growing in your veggie garden and popping into dishes and drinks are great for baby, too. Basil and rosemary both contain disease-fighting antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. Getting your mini to try these flavorful herbs might be a bit intimidating so Little Spoon’s Blueberry Chickpea Pear Rosemary and Strawberry Beet Basil Pear Chia (hello, summer superfoods!) take care of it for you.

See a common thread here? The easiest way to let your babe in on the tastes of summer is by digging into Little Spoon’s fresh, 100% organic Babyblends.
