6 Best Beach Snacks for Kids

We're heading to the beach the Little Spoon way with our top 6 easy-to-bring snacks.

The sun is shining, the waves are crashing, and your kids are antsy to get a fun beach day in. We know that beach days as a family may or may not be as relaxing from when it was just the two of you, but don’t let your crew scare you away from the soft sand and cool water.

Going to the beach with kiddos means basically packing a suitcase for the day–the sunscreen, change of clothes, beach toys, more sunscreen and of course, the snacks! There’s something about fresh fruit and veggies that just hit different on a hot summer beach day. We rounded up our top 6 nutritious, easy-to-bring and kid-friendly beach food, the Little Spoon way.

1. Smoothies

We’re starting off with the basics but we promise, they’re not boring. These Little Spoon Smoothies are packed with organic and clean ingredients that will taste incredibly refreshing under the umbrella. May we recommend the Paradise Punch or Mango Coconut Chia Pudding? And don’t forget to pack it in your cooler to stay cold!

2. Pasta Salad

It’s easy as one, two, three. Grab a Three Cheese Tortellini Plate, tossed with a delicious kale pesto and follow the heating instructions on the package. Once it cools down, add to a bowl and mix in chopped cucumber and tomato, and top with cheese of your choice. If that’s not *chef’s kiss*, we don’t know what is.

3. Orange Creamsicle Popsicles

You know the beloved ice cream carts that come around on the beach and sell those Spongebob popsicles? We’re not saying we don’t love our old pal, but all the ice cream options are packed with added sugar and artificial. Ditch the fake stuff and make your own popsicles that will taste just as good without all the junk. All you need is a Limited Edition Orange Coconut Creamsicle Babyblend and a popsicle mold. Pour the Babyblend into the popsicle mold and freeze until frozen. Once it’s ready, place the popsicle in a plastic bag and pack it in your lunchbox or cooler with ice packs, and you’re good to go. You’re welcome.

4. Froyo Bites

Think of a cupcake, but way healthier and just as satisfying. These five-minute, easy frozen yogurt cups are perfect for a post swim in the ocean. You’ll start with a Little Spoon Greek Yogurt Smoothie of your choice–Banana Split, Triple Berry Parfait or Peaches + Cream and pour it into a lined cupcake tin. Top with your favorite toppings such as seeds, granola, or fresh cut fruit and freeze for at least four hours. We recommend making these the night before, so you can grab them from the freezer, pack them in your cooler and be on your way.

5. Ice Pops

We are really throwing it back to the good ‘ole Fla-Vor-Ice Popsicles that used to take up all the room in your freezer. But this time, we’re making our own version of them using organic, non-GMO, Clean Label Project verified, junk-free Babyblends from Little Spoon. Even if you have an older kiddo, you’ll want to snag some of Little Spoon’s pureés for this special treat. You can buy a 150-pack of popsicle bags on Amazon for less than $15 and fill each one with a variety of Babyblends. Our faves are Mango, Pear, Peach, Guava and Banana + Pitaya, but you can choose any flavor that you and your kiddo love.

6. Macaroni Salad

You had us at “macaroni.” Normally, a good mac salad isn’t always health-friendly, but we have just the perfect way to fix that while still enjoying a summer fave. Heat up your Little Spoon Mac and Three Cheese plate and let it cool. Mix it in a bowl with peas, shredded carrots and chopped bell pepper, and place in the fridge. Your mini will be craving this addicting, cheesy and hidden-veggie packed pasta for days to come.
