America’s Never Seen Baby Food This Transparent

September 25, 2024 marks a historic day in baby food safety—not just for Little Spoon, but for the baby food industry in America. The United States has no federal regulation for heavy metals + chemical contaminants in baby food and no brand has made its testing protocols and standards clear.

We hear parents loud and clear: it’s time for big change, and Little Spoon is here to raise the bar.

We set out to do things differently when we started Little Spoon. Our mission is simple – we are here to make parents’ lives easier and kids healthier. We challenge ourselves every day to deliver the absolute best for your family and to create more access + transparency at every turn.

Now, we’re leading the charge in baby food safety. We’ve heard firsthand the lack of trust parents have—and it’s for good reason.

So, we’re taking matters into our own hands. The complexity of heavy metals and contaminants in the U.S. food system is much greater than baby food, but we are committed. Committed to showing regulators what is possible and committed to answering your call for transparency.

From this day forward, we promise:

  • More transparency than any other baby food maker has ever provided in the U.S.
  • Transparent safety standards for our baby food, with strict testing limits for 500+ toxins + contaminants across heavy metals, pesticides, glyphosate and plasticizers.
  • European Union (EU) testing standards for heavy metals, plus rigorous limits inspired by the EU for pesticides, glyphosate and plasticizers.
  • Every batch of our baby food will be tested by a third-party accredited lab. No product will be sold if it does not meet our standards.
  • A commitment to continue listening to our community and further roll out of standards across our baby products and beyond. We are just getting started.

We have assembled a team of advisors in food safety, pediatrics, nutrition and science to support us in our mission to support YOU, our community, as we drive forward a new standard for baby food. As our advisor Dr. Bruce Lanphear says, “we don’t need to wait for regulators to make changes.”

We’re not waiting anymore. A new standard for baby food is here.

With gratitude,

Ben and Angela
