6 Immune-Boosting Foods for Cold and Flu Season

We hate to say it but cold and flu season is here. Try these immune-boosting foods for babies to give your kiddo extra support.

We hate to be the ones to bring this up (and trust us, we’re cringing at the thought) but cold and flu season is indeed right around the corner. And since we all live with tiny human petri dishes, we might as well go in prepared. That’s why we’ve rounded up some go-to immune-boosting foods to incorporate into your mini’s diet.

Ginger

Ah yes, the usual suspect when it comes to immunity. Ginger is well known for its antibacterial and antiparasitic properties. Little Spoon’s Carrot Apple Ginger blend is the perfect dose of ginger in your babe’s mealtime lineup.

Turmeric

Turmeric is yet another holy grail of immunity from the ginger family. It contains a chemical called curcumin which can help reduce swelling and inflammation in the body. Sneaking turmeric in with sweeter flavors like Little Spoon’s Turmeric Sweet Potato Bell Pepper Soup helps to make the warm, bitter taste a bit more palatable for your babe.

Red Bell Pepper

Tasty and chock-full of Vitamin C, red bell peppers are a dark horse in immune-boosting food staples. These are an awesome option for your baby and big kid because they are incredibly tasty and easy to incorporate in a variety of meals. Opt for Little Spoon’s Egg Bites with Sweet Potato Hash for your toddler or big kid.

Spinach

Honestly, this green can do no wrong. Versatile and brimming with vitamin C and antioxidants, spinach covers all the bases. Grab a Blueberry Rosemary Tart for your littlest in the fam and Spinach and Cheese Ravioli for your big kid and you are good to go.

Sweet Potato

If you want to double-down on your beta-carotene intake, sweet potato is your best bet. Beta-carotene is a plant-based compound that breaks down into vitamin A in your body. Incorporate this powerhouse into your mini’s mealtime with Little Spoon’s Sweet Potato + Carrot blend or Mini Classic Eggs + Sausage Biteable.

Broccoli

Last but most definitely not least, broccoli is an amazing resource for immunity. It has loads of vitamin C along with zinc, iron, magnesium and a bunch of B vitamins. We know most kiddo’s aren’t diving into a bowl of broc so go for Little Spoon’s Golden Beet + Broccoli and Mini Beef Ravioli.
