If you’ve spent the last few days wondering how you’re going to keep your little one entertained and educated amidst school closures and work-from-home measures, you’re not alone.
But have you thought about yourself? Yes, you. We need to squeeze in at least a few minutes of ‘me time’ in all this. You know what they say (whoever they is), you can’t pour from an empty cup. We’re big fans of self-care, whatever that means to you. In this time of uncertainty and stress, we want to help you prioritize yourself (and stay sane!). We rounded up our favorite at-home workouts, binge-worthy TV shows, and other activities to give yourself a little TLC.
Workouts
obé fitness
We love obé fitness, especially for moms. Co-founder and co-CEO Ashley Mills is a mama herself so she’s super in-tune to the unique fitness needs of mothers. That’s why obé’s 4,000+ live and on-demand classes are all around 28 minutes. Plus, they’ve got express workouts (some just five minutes!) for when you’re even shorter on time. obé has something for your mini, too—they just launched kids dance videos with Kidz Bop! Their monthly membership is less than the cost of most boutique fitness classes and you can start now with a free trial.
ClassPass
If you’re a ClassPass member, there’s likely been some serious changes to your membership this week. But you’re in luck! ClassPass has made their ClassPass Live video and ClassPass Go audio workouts available through the regular ClassPass app. You’ll have access to hundreds of workouts like HIIT, yoga, meditation, indoor and outdoor running, pilates, yoga, strength training and more. If you’re not a ClassPass member, you can still sign up on their site for free digital workouts.
305 Fitness
Ready to have a sweaty dance party in your living room? 305 Fitness has got you covered. This cardio dance class might transport you back to the nightclubs of your younger days with their free YouTube workouts.
CorePower Yoga
If you’re working from home at a makeshift desk situation, you’re going to need to stretch your body and give it some major love. Say hello to CorePower Yoga On-Demand. They’re currently offering free access to a variety of their video classes ranging in format and length. Our favorite part? CorePower Yoga On-Demand even offers guided meditation, because we could definitely all use some calm right now.
Blogilates
Blogilates is kind of the OG online workout. Through both a website and YouTube Channel, Blogilates offers hundreds of workouts and they’re all under 30 minutes. Choose from workouts that focus on different areas of your body or opt for a total body session.
Yep, you read that right. Lots of your favorite fitness studios and teachers are taking to Instagram and Facebook Live to fuel your at-home workouts. We’ll be tuning into classes with Rumble, PureBarre, Lululemon, and Barry’s Bootcamp to name a few. We’ve also seen smaller studios offering live group classes for a small fee—t’s a great way to support your faves during this time if you’re able to.
Virtual Activities
Visit A Museum
If you’re finding yourself with more time on your hands than usual (no more commuting!), now is the perfect time to “visit” some of the world’s most popular museums. Google has teamed up with over 2,500 museums and galleries so you can get your culture fix without leaving your house. Friday night at Versailles? Yes, please!
Get Cooking
More time home means more home cooked meals! We’re taking advantage of the opportunity to try out recipes we usually don’t have time for and getting creative with our pantry staples (and Little Spoon blends). America’s Test Kitchen Cooking School offers over 230 classes to take your cooking skills to the next level. Classes range from instructionals on specific recipes like Classic French Fries to technique-based lessons like Basic Knife Skills. Raise your hand if you’re ready to become an amateaur chef!
Watch A Broadway Show
While the marquees in Time Square are dark, you can still see a Broadway show from your couch. Thanks to Playbill.com, we’ve got a to-do list of 15 Broadway shows to watch this week and what streaming platforms you can find them on. We’re starting with RENT.
When In Doubt, Netflix.
We’re learning the ins and outs of WFH here at Little Spoon which means slack channels dedicated to fun things, virtual happy hours to reconnect, and video calls for some face time. Straight from the LS slack, here’s what our team is binging:
