Stephanie Middleberg

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a mom of two (3.5-yr-old boy Julian, 1-yr-old girl Remi), wife to Andrew (a very supportive and hands on husband), a dietitian, founder of Middleberg Nutrition (a health and wellness practice) , author of the best seller, The Big Book of Organic Baby Food and The Big Book of Organic Toddler Food. I love nature and cooking and dance parties with my family.

What 3 words best describe your parenting experience to date?

Just unconditional love.

What’s one of the hardest or most surprising things about being a parent that people wouldn’t expect or don’t usually talk about?

Every moment is a teaching moment for our kids. Your not just taking care of them, your their primary teacher. The impact of this is huge and it can be overwhelming at times.

What were some of your “ this normal??” moments once you became a parent?

Oh gosh, anywhere from my oldest’s early morning wake-ups at 5am (and up for the entire day) to not wanting to sit still when we eat to issues involving his eczema and food allergies, it’s been a journey!

What’s one of your favorite parenting hacks that helps keep you sane (that other parents should know about and start doing ASAP)?

Build a team! I’m fortunate that in my field I have access to some wonderful practitioners and they have been instrumental in the development and health of our kids. I think we often shy away from asking for help but for me knowing I am not an expert in all things parenting and seeking out others has been a game changer. Also, get your husband involved and make them feel part of the process from the start.
