Donna Fay

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a single mother and in the medical profession.  I decided at 46 to have a child on my own.  It was the hardest thing to accomplish but I did it. Never give up!

What 3 words best describe your parenting experience to date?

The hardest thing I have ever been challenged to do.  Sleepless nights are endless and you want to feel normal sometimes. My son laughs at me when I tell him NO. He thinks it a game.

What’s one of the hardest or most surprising things about being a parent that people wouldn’t expect or don’t usually talk about?

Not sleeping and my son bonding with the nannies more than me.

What were some of your “ this normal??” moments once you became a parent?

A baby at 16 months old not sleeping through the night. Working full time and spending most of my income on childcare took me for a loop.

What’s one of your favorite parenting hacks that helps keep you sane (that other parents should know about and start doing ASAP)?

Singing… taking baths and taking a deep breath 🙂
